AT command for linux

Hello people, i’m use AT command on minicom in REDHAT to setup my siemens mc35i modem. After doing AT, AT+CPIN=“1234”, AT+CGDCONT=1,“IP”,“free”, when i try to connect modem with AT981#, it return me CONNECT before returning NO CARRIER.

Can somebody help me please. It’s for my internship.

Your modem won’t connect unless you’ve got an ISP username and password. So unless you’ve extracted your username & password from your home/work router, you’ve no chance of connecting to the 'net.

Wow … it’s been a long time since I’ve seen people messing with modem init strings, and AT commands

I’m guessing this is a typo ?
AT981#
shouldn’t that be
ATD981#

I hate to state the obvious. but if it connects then disconnects … I’d suggest it’s expecting something more … as BkS suggests, maybe authentication ?

Or doesn’t it connect at all ?

Who is the ISP you’re trying to connect to ?
