Cannot import VPN connection

Okay so, I am a newbie on linux even though I have been using it for months already and I still cant find my way around it as I want to.
I have been wanting to connect to a VPN server but I can’t,
I have been following numerous tutorials in the hopes as to see what little detail I missed, whatever I do, as soon as I try to import a vpn file, I get this:

[b]The file ‘Some vpn file.ovpn’ could not be read or does not contain recognized VPN connection information

Error: unknown error.[/b]

I don’t understand why, is there a simple fix, detail that I keep overseeing ?

Are you okay to post the ovpn fie contents ? (you can obfuscate any info that you think might be sensitive)

And does the ovpn file come with anything else, such as cert/key files ?
