Cannot see networks with Linux Mint using AWUS036NH Ralink

I am new to Linux, which is why I am using a Linux Mint OS to get used to Linux. I bought an Alfa AWUS036NH adapter to use with VBox. I created a usb filter for it and it shows up in ifconfig as wlan0 but no SSID’s pop up on visible networks. Please help! See below for an image

Are you saying Mint is running in a VirtualBox VM ?
