Well I know how to download it- save the folder on my desktop, but after that I don’t know how to install it. Mark used to tell me what to do next on such things.
Try “sudo dpkg -l brasero” to confirm it`s not there.
As Keith said try “sudo apt-get update” to update, then “sudo apt-get install brasero”, then try " sudo dpkg -l brasero" again to confirm it is there, or not.
If, after Keith’s and Wishbone’s suggestions, you still are missing Brasero, you can download it here: https://pkgs.org/download/brasero, for your Peppermint 9, scroll down to Ubuntu 18.04 and download that version. It should be a .deb file. Peppermint should install it using gdebi. Don’t forget you’ll need to use your password to authorise it.
Did you succeed in downloading Brasero from either of the sites suggested?

As an aside;
The latest version of Audacity (2.2.1) will save MP3 files as WAV files that you can burn to a CD and play on your retro radio.
Xubuntu has many CD/DVD burners available for installation (along with many other useful applications) and will work well on your netbook, so you might consider installing it.
Sorry guys, I have a new Chromebook ( refurbished one off Ebay so new to me) which is my main laptop now ( it has an SSD drive so is very fast!) so not been using my Linux netbook that much lately ( use it mostly for scanning pix). I’ll power it up tomorrow and try and see if I can get Brasero on it using your instructions.
No because it has no CD drive, nor can you use external CD/DVD drives on it. I forgot to look again at the netbook. My friend Dave was doing some CDs for me on his Windows computer and using media player but last time I saw him he was having trouble with it ( probably needed an update ).
I’ve since bought a GPO Chesterton record player that looks a bit like an old radio and the usb stick works on that so I’ve been using it to play the mp3s on.
You can record off devices on it but I don’t think it does mp3s to CDS- not figured that out yet. It can play vinyl records, CDs, cassettes and mp3s off a data stick.
