Docky Docking (SOLVED)

well at least that’s sorted but I now have a bigger problem (no surprises there) I bookmarked “my computer” (which I always do ) then tried to open the file system and it wont open and pcmanfm is constantly going round in a loop trying to open it and the menu is struggling to opem anything

Anyway we can have a look at that tomorrow if that’s ok

Many thanks

Graeme

OK, i’ll look into it

What happens if you enter this into pcmanfm’s address bar:

computer:///

then hit enter ?

If that works … whilst there, click

Bookmarks > Add to bookmarks

[EDIT]

Ignore that … I see what you mean.

Is that important … the filesystem should be listed in the left hand column of pcmanfm anyway.

OK, checked the latest version, and that’s the same :frowning:

The only thing I can suggest is … as clicking “File System” only really takes you to /

Why not just bookmark / and call the bookmark “File System” ?

The latest version of libfm doesn’t get stuck in the loop where it keeps throwing up the bus error … it only does it once … but it still doesn’t work.
Just as easy to create the bookmark as above, then not bother with “My Computer”.

Yeah ok that works, but now if I log out and log in again all the icons I placed in Docky are gone unless I leave them on the desktop which kinda defeats the whole purpose

That’s because you’re dragging them from the desktop … then deleting the desktop launcher that Docky was told to point at.

Drag them from:-

/usr/share/applications
or
~/.local/share/applications

Thanks Mark i should have tried that but I thought it would work like Cairo Dock, I’ll do that when i get home from work and let you know

Many thanks

Graeme

Thinking about it, you MAY be able to drop the shortcuts from the “Applications” section of PCManFM

Applications in the left hand column of PCManFM

I didn’t try this … and I’ve now uninstalled Docky ::slight_smile:

OK thats it all right and correct

FYI it wouldn’t work from the “Applications” section but it worked fine from /usr/share/applications & ~/.local/share/applications

Nothing left to say but thank you once again for your help & perseverance and mark this solved

Many thanks

Graeme

No problem
