Fonts error please help[Fixed thankyou]

I haven’t got a Facebook account and I have no plans to get one… so I’m afraid posting to Facebook doesn’t help me get at the screenshot.

Unless someone knows better ??

But you can try this… Open a terminal and enter:

gnome-default-applications-properties

and make sure the Web Browser is set to Firefox
and the Mail Reader is set to Thunderbird

Yes there are both set to firefox and thunderbird I’ve added the screenshot to flicker

A link would be nice

this is the link to flicker :
Imgur

According to Thunderbird, it failed to connect to pop.virginmedia.com

http://linuxforums.org.uk/MGalleryItem.php?id=1401

This isn’t surprising as the POP server name should be pop3.virginmedia.com

see here:
http://linuxforums.org.uk/general-help-advice/get-online-with-email/msg54421/#msg54421

It still won’t work I sent it from my web based mail the server recived it but not thunderbird I’ve posted to flicker again with the settings I tried port 993, 995 and 110

Change the port back to 995 <— IMPORTANT

How are you selecting “Get Mail” for your account ?

The correct way (unless you have any accounts set as global accounts) is to click the arrow next to the “Get Mail” button:

http://linuxforums.org.uk/MGalleryItem.php?id=1411

Then select theporter2000virginmedia.com from the drop down menu.

Clicking the “Get Mail” button will do nothing… unless your email account is set as “Global”.

Click “theporter2000virginmedia.com” from that drop-down menu, give it a minute, and if an error message comes up. let me know what it says.

From what I know, Virgin Media only support retrieval of mail, on Windows OS Mail clients. I don’t understand why, but I’m pretty sure the POP3, & SMTP settings are these.

If your email address ends with @virgin.net:

Protocol: POP3
Incoming Mail Server = pop.virgin.net
Outgoing Mail Server = smtp.virgin.net

If your email address ends with @virginmedia.com:

Protocol: POP3
Incoming Mail Server = pop3.virginmedia.com
Outgoing Mail Server = smtp.virginmedia.com

Both virgin.net & virginmedia.com

My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication: enabled
Use same settings as my incoming mail server: enabled

Incoming server (POP3): 995
This server requires a secure connection (SSL) enabled
Outgoing server (SMTP): 465 or 25
This server requires a secure connection (SSL) enabled
Server Timeouts (Greater than 1 minute, 5 is recommend)

I hope this somewhat helps. I really couldn’t make out what the other issues were, to me it was like you opened one of two Mozilla Apps, from which you had pressed “Get Help Online” and somewhere between that, it made a command of somewhat to a terminal which would open with an error message. :o Like I said it’s hard to make out what your problem is. You need to be more specific, and no offence, but help us help you, be clearer with the english :-\

I’m not home yet but don’t understand what you me by global ?

A Global account, is an account with 2 or more email addresses, from which, if you press “Get Mail” thunderbird will retrieve mail from all accounts, not just a single account.

thank you I now have email the blank terminal still comes up but dosen’t appear to affect anything, it was a mix of global and the arrow I didn’t relise because it was in advanced

Glad I could help partially :).

Are you saying you have a problem sending and receive mail in Thunderbird?

If so when did the problem start?

Have you checked your mail account settings?
