Hi, I have just installed Ubuntu Linux 11.04 on a new build “Computeractive £150 Computer”, can anyone please help by suggesting a suitable wireless dongle that I can install to use my present wireless network on this new machine. Please keep any answers simple as I am brand new to Linux.
Thanks for prompt reply Mark, will study the link you suggested. In the meantime has anyone actually set up a wireless dongle using Ubuntu 11.04 and got it working well?
Yes, by far the majority of USB wireless dongles can be made to work in Linux… but some models “just work” and others require a bit of work on your behalf.
Just a quick update, bought the TP Link TL-WN321G from Amazon for £6.59, this adapter worked absolutely brilliantly straight from the box. Just plug into the USB port and it instantly picked up my wireless network, so I am now on line using Ubuntu Linux and am absolutely delighted with the system so far. No doubt will come across problems or will need help in the future but it is brilliant to know that the help is there when needed.
Once again thanks very much for your help.
