I have tried every possible combination and still I experience the same problems either trying P7 or loading P7, although Win7 is, and always has been, quite happy running with both video cards and the three monitors.
Anyhow I have been absolved from any further trouble-shooting as my granddaughter has solved my dilemma for me and all from a throw-a-way comment I made whilst day dreaming . I happened to say: “I’m getting fed-up with messing about with this damn computer and have asked on the forum where I might buy one with the Linux distro’ installed.”
She looked thoughtful for a moment and then said: That’s what I should do; I should buy a new computer Linux ready and she would do me the great favour of taking my current machine, thereby relieving me of the headache of trying to install Linux on it.
Aren’t kids really thoughtful? Or am I missing something? lol.
Thanks for everything folks, I’m sorry if I have messed you around, but I have done all within my power to try/load P7, but my machine seems to be unable to run it.
I will let you know when I have the new machine up and running and I hope eventually to be able to repay your efforts by having some experience of Linux operating systems that I will be able to pass on. In the spirit of the film - Pay it Forward.
I’m still on the hunt for a Unix machine and am having a chat with a bloke in Wales, but collecting is a bit of a problem at the moment. Meanwhile, I mentioned I had tried to build a machine with PC Specialists that I would load with P7, but they told me I could not do it with the specification I had chosen and I wrote asking them what would I need to build one. It’s taken them long enough, but here is their reply, just for interest:
“Hi Edward,
Thank you for your email, I can confirm that we as a company do not support Linux at all. This message will be visible on all systems at the moment as we do not test our systems on Linux and cannot guarantee that you will not have issues when using Linux.
If you have any other enquiries do not hesitate to contact us.

So it would seem that my choice of spec’ had nothing to do with it.
Hi, thanks for the advice and sorry for the delay, we have been dealing with a bereavement and I have had to suspend my search for a month or so.
Yes, I had looked at that website and there are a couple of English ones there, but they are likely to charge VAT and remember what I think about that Vile Autocratic Theft and how I go out of my way to avoid paying it whenever I can?
I will resume my search in a little while and get what I need.
