Imagemagick editing software

I would like to try ImageMagick editing software, can anyone suggest the best (easiest) option?

Toshiba Equium 2gb Ubuntu 10.10
Samsung NC10 1gb Ubuntu 10.04

Imagemagick is not (AFAIK) a standalone application as such… more a collection of command line tools that can be used by other applications… including any applications you may want to write (which explains all the API’s).

You’ll probably find it is already installed in Ubuntu because many apps use the imagemagick backend tools.
