Installing peppermint

Hi - yes the files were word documents ending in .doc (think they were called open office on old OS)

Offline - I need to do college assignments ie create / edit / save text documents (and insert photo illustrations)

Online - upload assignments to cloud storage - I’ve used ADrive before but any free one would do - I guess google docs would be simplest?
I don’t do any film or games downloading really- just web browsing.

So yes please can you tell me what to install for creating text docs offline?
Thanks

OK, when you’re online … do stages 4 and 5 from the Peppermint tutorial:-
http://linuxforums.org.uk/index.php?topic=10313.0

Then do stage 6, but change the second command read:

sudo apt-get install vlc libreoffice-calc libreoffice-writer apt-xapian-index && sudo update-apt-xapian-index

instead.

Then do stage 7, but DO NOT install the Java stuff.

And if you want to install the jupiter power manager for extended battery life …
Do stage 11, but change the last line to read:

sudo apt-get install jupiter-support-eee

instead.

.

Great thanks I’ll have a go at work tomorrow.
