Mark the laptop battery- at least I think that is what it is- it’s an oblong box which is on a cable I plug the laptop into the mains with- is rather hot- is this normal? It’s an old big HP laptop we have Pepperminted.
That’s your power adaptor Melissa it’s not unusual for it to get hot but hot is relative but it shouldn’t get so hot as you cant touch it
I can touch it but it is really warm. I wonder if I should take it to the PC man for him to have a look at.

Well that maybe a good for idea for your own peace of mind but it doesn’t sound too serious to me meantime
I tend not to use the power supply so long as I have battery power but you have to be carefull your battery doesn’t die during installation of software so it’s probably best to leave it plugged in until you get your software installed
I wouldn’t worry too much about it … some power adapters do get quite hot.
Others don’t.
Go figure :o
The battery is fully charged so I have took it out to give it a rest ( and PC man told me laptops should be used on battery as much as poss) but keeping a close eye on it’s time- got 21 mins so far to charge again.Hey Mark- if we can get a window that comes up to warn me of low battery like on the netbook that’d be very helpful.

later …
Let’s get the important stuff done first.
Oh, and ignore your “computer man” for now … until we’re done, leave it plugged in.
I REALLY don’t want to be fixing a broken file system because you ran out of battery in the wrong place.
