I’m now on Ubuntu and lm downloading peppermint
Is Ubuntu installed or Live ?
and are you connected wirelessly or via an ethernet cable ?
I’m sorry I don’t catch your comment I’ve just see them,Ubuntu say it’s version 14.04 lts
Installed
well if you’re happy with Ubuntu, we could just carry on with that ?
are you connected wirelessly or via an ethernet cable ?
and what’s the output from:
uname -a
I don’t know because it just few minutes to work with, but the wifi is ok till now , the download now is 312/713Mb without disconnect
the wifi is HIGHLY likely to drop out at some point without the original fix … that’s why I didn’t want you to get ahead of me.
but for now, see if it manages to download Peppermint before it drops out.
How can find the terminal?
You suggest to stay on Ubuntu for a while to see how it is work?
LOL … I did say the ubuntu desktop was “different”
Okay, hit the top icon on the side panel … then start typing terminal … you should see the icon for launching the terminal appear below where you’re typing … click that icon
Another method is to use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Alt+T … which should also open a terminal
HINT - Once you have an application running, you’ll see an icon for it in the side panel … if you want it to stay on that side panel (aka launcher) when you close the app, right-click that icon and select “pin to launcher” … it’ll then always be on that side panel as an easy launch icon.
the download are complete now
the output is
Linux hayder-Lenovo-G50-80 3.19.0-25-generic #26~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 24 21:16:20 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Lol the wifi drop now
Cool, you have Ubuntu 14.04.3
Run:
echo "options rtl8723be fwlps=0 ips=0"| sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8723be.conf
and REBOOT
Then test wireless stability again.
Let me know when you’ve done that, and we’ll move you from 14.04.3 to 14.04.4 via the LTS enablement stack
The peppermint interface is like Mint ? Because you’re right the interface is weird
it’s “similar” to mints, but a little more “simplified”, in other words not so flashy of a menu … but it’s still where you’d expect it.
See the 2 “Main Menu” pics in the Peppermint screenshots
http://peppermintos.com/screenshots/
(you can click those images on the Peppermint site to enlarge them by the way)
ahaa thats great, because the menu in mint is ok
now i enteer the command and wait to see, do i install the updates ?
and how can i burn the peppermint into cd?
Burn it to CD/DVD or USB stick ?
Are you able to boot from USB stick … or are you the guy who was having problems doing that ?
I wouldn’t bother updating Ubuntu just yet … let’s see how wireless goes, and decide if you want to move to Peppermint first
It’s drop again
I have just blank cd not DVD to burn the peppermint , but I have usb
