Linux Support Engineer - Contract Role - Lincoln


I’m currently working with a client who are looking for a Linux Support Engineer ideally from a Systems Administration background. I was wondering if there’s any body that would be interested in the below role?

Location: Lincoln
Type: 6 Month rolling contract
Rate: £400 a day


You will be responsible for the administration and support of our Linux environment, as well as defining and developing solutions for other legacy engineering applications

• Resolution of system faults according to defined SLAs (2nd and 3rd line support)
• Management of Security updates and alerts in accordance with InfoSec regulations
• Maintaining software levels and patches to company standards for applications and servers. Whilst maintaining minimal impact on the business
• Liaise with third party support partners to assist with resolution of Linux issues
• Delivery of technical scope documents for replacements of legacy applications
• Support of IT projects and implementation of new IT solutions to timescale and budget
• Change management communication as appropriate
• Maintenance and administration of SQL databases, including administration of scheduled jobs and back-ups

• Qualification in an IT or IT related discipline.
• Understanding of IT development methodology and standards

• Linux clustered solutions and server administration
• Extensive IT knowledge (applications, operating environments, platform technologies, software development and configuration, and IT Infrastructure)
• Experience and understanding of Engineering and/ or manufacturing environments
• Customer Management experience and appropriate soft skills
• Working collaboratively with international teams

• Expert knowledge of Linux and SQL including administration, scripting and problem solving
• Good knowledge of clustered solutions
• Good planning and execution skills for software upgrade/changes
• Support call and change management experience
• Application development, experience of Visual Basic and SQL
