I’ve been searching the net, but to no avail have I found anything productive… I’m just looking to changing the taskbar which holds “Applications Places System” with Mac like options and remove the “File Edit View…” etc buttons from the windows frame and have them within the taskbar, so that it acts like Mac OS X’s Finderbar… it’s really the only feature I like about OS X… If you don’t get what I mean then here’s some reference pictures.
Finderbar for OS X:

I simply want it to act like it, not look like it theme wise… (I like black) :3
How about
cairo-dock
http://glx-dock.org/
or
docky
http://do.davebsd.com/wiki/Docky
Both available in the repo’s
I have cairo dock atm… but it’s the bar at the top of the screen that I want to act like Mac OS X’s finderbar. It basically an active bar that changes buttons… so say if you were in Firefox… the buttons would change from “File Edit View Go Window Help” etc… to “Firefox File Edit View Go Window Help” etc… and the same happens when you go into Nautilus. It’s not the actual dock at the bottom I want, since I already have one.

Upgrade to 11.04… the “Global menu” is standard fare in 11.04, even when you run the classic desktop (ie. when you log in without Unity).
See here:
or Google “11.04 global menu”
[EDIT]
Just found this for 10.10
and this for 9.10/10.04:

I don’t want to upgrade to 11.04 atm, because I have net issues. Currently using 3G Mobile broadband so downloading Natty Narwhal would take a while. Personally I would’ve thought it would just be a case of changing some code, like you do to move the Close Maximise & Minimise buttons from right to left or vise-versa.
That’s all it is… just a matter of changing some code
… problem is it’s probably a whole lot of code… moving the buttons is just a window decorator config issue, having all the applications make the panel aware of what menu’s to place where, and then the panel relaying input back to the application is much more complex.
I’m actually quite surprised they’ve been able to pull it off without a complete re-write of all the applications.
That said, there were issues with some apps, most of which will probably be adapted to work fairly quickly if they haven’t been already:
http://code.google.com/p/gnome2-globalmenu/wiki/ApplicationCompatibility
I’ve * heard* that (some/all ?) KDE apps don’t work properly, but haven’t tried any yet… but apps that don’t work just fall back to having the menu in the program window.
I noticed it doesn’t work with Firefox :/. Kinda of a bummer, but I’m sure they’ll iron that out… once they do I think I may use it, but for now I’ll stay with the Main Custom menu.
you could try this PPA, but don’t hold me responsible for any problems it causes:
http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/ppa/mozilla_team_firefox_next?dist=maverick
Probably best to test it in a VirtualBox VM install of maverick first.
That PPA contains firefox-4.0 and firefox-4.0-globalmenu packages
