I am new to linux and was wondering if i can run ms money 2000 on it?
Any help or advice appreciated.
Thanks Steve
Hi stevesnowski, and welcome to the forum
Money 2000 (as with ALL Windows applications) will NOT run in Linux natively … though some Windows apps can be made to run (with differing levels of success/functionality) in WINE (a windows application layer).
WineHQ, reports Money 2000 as “Gold”, but there are issues … see here:
There are however Linux alternatives (most of which will be free) … though you’d probably run into issues getting your data out of Money 2000 and into an alternative … I’d suspect Money uses a proprietary file format.
Your other option would be to run a copy of Windows in a virtual machine inside Linux, and install Money onto that.
Or set up a dual-boot system … where you decide which OS to boot when you turn on your PC
HTH
If you have any further questions, feel free to ask
Many Thanks for the info will prob do dual boot option
