I could be reading this wrong, but I think my card is capable of 1000mb/s.

I have tried but been unable to change from 100mb/s, any advice?
Have just bought new cat 6 cables for the house but now might have to get new card if it cant be changed.

Tried this

sudo ethtool -s eth0 speed 1000 duplex full autoneg off

But didn’t work

Is your router Gigabit?

I assumed it was having had it for less than a year but some quick googling suggests it might not be.

You can have a gigabit capable network card, but it will still only connect to your router with the speed the router supports.
You could put in a gigabit network switch and connect your router to that. That way you could connect your machine to the switch with gigabit speed.

No point unless there’s something else you connect to that’s gigabit capable.

That’s my set up anyway.
The router and PC are at one side of the room and all my media stuff at the other.
I have a 16 port gigabit switch behind the media stand, everything connected to it with cat 6 cables and a cat 6 across the room to the router.
The PC though is connected via a cat 6 directly to the router.
Got a spare cat 6, if I run that to the switch from the PC (p.i.t.a but what ya gonna do) and that should sort out the gigabit network as the router will then only be supplying the modem part for internet access.
If all that seems right there is still the issue with the card.
Did I do it right or wrong, more importantly, is it a gigabit card or did I read that wrong.

Yes, the card seems to be gigabit capable. Testit by connecting direct to the gigabit switch.
