Yeh it’s part of the xserver-xorg package … so reinstall that with:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall xserver-xorg
But before you try that … have you tried running an update from the command line:
sudo apt-get update
then
sudo apt-get upgrade

This message comes to you from Ubuntu. Re-installing xserver-xorg did the trick. I had done the updates earlier.
