Open source promotion web site

Hi all I am putting together a web site to promote Open source software and Linux based Operating systems initially it was to be aimed at charities but after considering small businesses I have opened it up to be more general but I feel strongly that charities etc are wasting large amounts of there IT budget when they could be looking at other options like Open source.
I have made a start with my limited web design skills with ALL Open source tools (GIMP, Kompozer etc) bu need information on company’s that use Open source and recommendations etc etc mainly (but not exclusively) on Windows Open source as that would be the most used and quickest way to introduce Open source to people.
Any help would be appreciated though thanks in advance.

Unlike other Open source web sites I hope to give specific detailed info on Open source software but in a easy to use manor.

If you are looking for Open Souce software … Sourceforge is the place to look:
http://sourceforge.net

Sourceforge can be searched in many ways, including by platform

OS software on Sourceforge for the Windows platform:

Currently there are 312,725 Open Source projects listed on Sourceforge, including all the big names such as LibreOffice, GIMP, Inkscape, Scribus, etc.

My apologies (I really should have read your posting more thoroughly)… you’re after recommendations from companies that use OSS on Windows ?

If so, I’m wondering if you are asking in the right place… this is a Linux forum after all

I’m after more info on which company’s use Linux but mainly which companys use Open source software (for Windows for example) thats my primary aim as it will be the quickest route to promoting open source in general.

Windows isn’t open source, nor is it anything to do with Linux. Windows is a completely different OS, and everything in the Windows kernel is all closed-source. They don’t share anything.

Companies that use Linux is just a “Google” away -
http://www.aaxnet.com/design/linux2.html
and
http://www.focus.com/fyi/50-places-linux-running-you-might-not-expect/
etc.

But I think you’ll find it a bit more difficult to discover major companies that run OSS on Windows … I would have thought they would only give out this info in anonymous surveys … not wanting to upset the M$ partners.

"Windows isn’t open source, nor is it anything to do with Linux. Windows is a completely different OS, and everything in the Windows kernel is all closed-source. They don’t share anything. "

I know I said I want Open source software for Windows eg. Gimp or Open office but mainly I need help finding companys that use Linux or Open source software whether it be on Win, Linux or use Linux itself or whatever.
