Package installer telling me to use Software Channel

Hi,

I’ve just tried to update Google chrome on Mint 13. When the package installer opens I get the following message;
“The same package is available from a software channel; recommend installing the package from this channel”

Where do I find this Software Channel?

If you’re UPDATING Chrome (as opposed to installing it for the first time) run your software updater … that will install it via your “repositories” (sometimes called your software channels)

or open a terminal and run:

sudo apt-get update

then

sudo apt-get upgrade

I entered the two codes you gave, it took about 20 minutes to work through it all and update/upgrade.

I have a Software manager and Update manager (shield, bottom right). When I’ve tried to use the Update manager before it would tell me something like, it couldn’t update everything so I should use the existing version. Chrome never seemed to update, I’ve been using 28 for ages now it’s 38. I think I’ll use these codes to update in future.

Many thanks Mark.

You’re welcome :slight_smile:
