what happens if you hit the maximise button on that dialog ?

Erm … minimise means send to the bottom panel ???

What I mean is MANUALLY resizing the window, by dragging it’s edge …

put your mouse pointer at the very top edge of the (not maximised) window … the mouse cursor should change to an upwards pointing arrow with a line at its point, clck and hold the left mouse button, and drag the top edge downwards to shrink the window.

once you’ve shrunk it and let go of the mouse button, place the mouse cursor on the window titlebar, click and hold the left mouse button and drag the whole window upwards.
