Screen resolution too low-revisited (SOLVED)

going back to this thread http://linuxforums.org.uk/index.php?topic=12176.msg98817#msg98817

I’ve installed Peppermint 6 alongside Peppermint 5 and I’m having the same resolution problem as before so I tried a shortcut by copying the /lib/firmware/edid folder from PM5 to the same location on PM6 and edited the /etc/default/grub file like before but it’s not working

reading back on the previous thread I don’t see why it shouldn’t work but there’s obviously something I’m not understanding so will I have to go through the whole process from scratch or is there something else I can do ?

Many thanks

Graeme

False alarm, I mistyped the /etc/default/grub edit i had

“quiet splash drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware=edid/myedid.bin”
when it should have been
“quiet splash drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware=edid/my-edid.bin”

working fine now

sorry about that :-[
