OK what exactly is the problem … you’ve got it set to trigger a single screensaver after 36 minutes … is that not what’s happening ?

if not, exactly what is happening ?

is the screensaver coming on earlier, or is it blanking the screen ?

When I watch an online video eg iplayer, after about 10-15 mins the screen goes black- blanking screen and I have to move the mouse to make the screen go back to the video. Screensaver doesn’t come on unless I don’t touch laptop for about 30 mins- (e.g I go upstairs with laptop left on and have a shower, or go and hamg laundry out etc) then it will eventually come on.

I may have asked you to do this before, but can you do it again anyway.

REBOOT

Now without doing anything else first, can you open a terminal and post the output from:

xset -q

OK this is just weird … I’d have expected with the settings you’re showing thee that there’d be NO blanking

DPMS (Energy Star): Standby: 7200 Suspend: 7200 Off: 14400 DPMS is Disabled

Are you 100% sure this output was from the PC that’s blanking after 10mins ?

Yes, it is Mark.

I know Kubuntu is different from Peppermint but could it be the energysaver?

In Kubuntu there’s this…

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/450x400q90/901/Nt4CAp.jpg

I too was having my screen go blank and could not understand why when looking at the screensaver settings and then I remembered the setting for screen energy saving in Power Management and turned that off and now my screen does not go blank/switch off any more.

Thanks will take a look.
