How do i connect to te internet when i first install linux? it asks me to install drivers which i go ahead and do but it never installs the drivers it just says loading for ages.
Which Linux distribution? Ubuntu, SUSE, Arch, Fedora, Mint etc. and which drivers does it want to install… wireless? graphics?..if the problem is wireless drivers have you tried connecting to a router with an ethernet cable, and making sure that the router is set to be a DHCP server.
We need a bit more info on what the problem is… are you wondering how to enter your network settings such as IP address WEP/WPA key?.. or is the problem that the network drivers are missing?
If you have an ADSL connection, a standard £20 router (not a ‘modem’!) and have a network card in your PC wired to your router, there should be nothing to configure, it should just work.
To figure out why it’s not working, start by looking at what you have that’s not ‘standard’ … i.e. modem as opposed to router, wireless link, etc etc … and if you can feed us some details we should be able to make a few suggestions …
