No way of connecting via Ethernet?
Looking around the web, it seems that the Superhub is not so super Wirellessly.
Well your other option is check if it works through an ethernet cable … and if so …

No way of connecting via Ethernet?
I’m not sure the Superhub is in my attic although no that far from the PC’s , I have a long ethernet cable but not sure if it’s long enough but I can try tomorrow I’ve had enough tonight
Looking around the web, it seems that the Superhub is not so super Wirellessly.
So I believe but I can’t understand why other PC’s and Laptops get very good speeds and only this one is struggling, but you guys know more about these things than I do
See above
You only have to TEST it … if it’s OK, you could look into homeplug (powerline) adapters.

Or resurrect the idea of using the SuperHub as a modem and your old router.
Or that
we never DID get round to trying that did we ???
I’ve looked at these home plugs before but are they worth the expense to get one old crap PC working when i could use the money and get a better PC
remember I’m a Scotsman and careful we mi sillir
If the PC works well enough for the job … £25 aint that much.
But yeh, I’d test it first … no point in spending £25 if they won’t work, or the PC aint up to the job anyway.,
Or resurrect the idea of using the SuperHub as a modem and your old router.
Well I’m willing to try if you guys are, I just hate wasting peoples time
I did once think about the home plugs for the xboxes i if they could be made to work with them
OK, we’ll give that a shot tomorrow if you want … AND STOP THINKING YOU’RE WASTING OUR TIME.
Ooops caps lock :o
and yeh, homeplugs should work with the xboxes … effectively they’re transparent to the network, and are just like a long ethernet cable.

You don’t have to shout at me Mark, I’m a sensitive guy, I’ve got a wee petted lip going on now
Goodnight
I was just too lazy to retype it once I noticed the caps lock was on :
Cya tomorrow then.
[EDIT]
BTW, I had to Google “petted lip”, just to check the mental image was correct:
it was
Hi again guys
I connected up an ethernet cable and I’m definately getting far better download speeds
Download: 3.94 mbps
Upload: 1.37 mbps
You tube videos play much better as well and it’s stable so although it’s nowhere near as good as Linux3 (which hit 38 mbps download speed this morning) it would be acceptable if only I could get this wirelessly
That’s still crap for ethernet
But if good enough for your purposes…
[EDIT]
Have you tried a LiveUSB on ethernet ?
That's still crap for ethernet
Yeah I know but it may be as good as I can hope for with this old machine, I don’t really want to go down the home plug route because this PC was only set up until we can get a new one or newer one and it was also an opportunity to introduce the missus to Linux.
keeping it ethernet isn’t really an option or at least not an easy one to implement due to router location etc
So unless I can get a half decent stable wireless connection the PC is really no use but having said that no great loss
Nothing ventured nothing gained
Have you tried a LiveCD/LiveUSB on an ethernet connection ?
possibly something else … like PM3 ?
What’s the output from:

No I haven’t but I can try I did attempt to install PM3 on another Hard drive but the installer kept crashing so I Installed Zorin 6 ( I can hear you growling from here ) would that work or would it be better with a live CD ?
I have no idea on the interrupts, so I would leave that for Mark.
You could try Zorin for comparison.
What is preventing you connecting it up via Ethernet permanently.?
Is it lack of network ports on your rooter? Distance or cables being unsightly?
You told us that your NAS is in the attic and wired up, where are the xboxes in relation to this PC?

I wouldn’t expect much from Mark tonight some idiot’s give him alchohol

Well the router and NAS is in the attic and the 3 xboxes are in various rooms in the house , the PC’s are in an upstairs room directly below the the router and NAS
The NAS is connected by a short ethernet cable and the xboxes are also connected by ethernet cables that I’ve spent a lot of time neatly running through trunking etc, so apart from all 4 ports on the router being occupied I dont want to have to run another cable for what is essentially a temporary PC, it is doable because I have a spare ethernet hub I can utilize to give me extra ports but it’s a lot of work and I’m essentially lazy
