[SOLVED] Fresh install of Kubuntu 16.04 - No Wireless

After much messing about trying to make this laptop a dual boot, then wiping Window$ to make it only Kubuntu 14.04 but having problems I decided to go for it and wipe it and install Kubuntu 16,04.

I am now STILL without wireless.
I ran through the info gathering commands you gave me in THIS THREAD and one came up with nothing.

dmesg | grep -i iwl
ls /lib/firmware | grep -i iwl

FIRST, post the output from:

lsmod

THEN, does wireless spring to life if you run:

sudo modprobe iwlwifi
lsmod

I typed;

sudo modprobe iwlwifi

And I don’t know if anything happened, I’m doing a reboot to find out…

Nope… Still no wireless

Oh yeah, I forgot, you need to install the 4.8 kernel series via the HWE … connect via an ethernet cable and run:

sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-16.04 xserver-xorg-hwe-16.04

once finished REBOOT

Does wireless work now ?

Yep, wireless works now, no need to drag the laptop around with a cable connected anymore. lol
;D
