[SOLVED] Transmission gone wonky

E: Unable to locate package qbittottent

Might try a reboot to see if that helps…

Still would’nt work so I tried to reinstall it through through SPM and it worked this time (I’d tried to do a ‘reinstall’ before posting my problem.

Sorry … typo:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall qbittorrent

But if it’s working now, don’t bother.

Frying pan n fire spring to mind…
Firewall is set to ‘High’ and even with port forwarding addresses set, it still blocks traffic!
When its set to ‘Low’ it lets traffic through…

Qbittorrent is also now crashing…

Which router make/model ?

The BEST in the world… a VM Superhub ;D :o

OK, I know sod all about the Virgin “not-so-Superhub” … it may also require you to allow incoming connections on that port through its firewall

ie. a firewall rule.

Mark, from what I’ve just read here; Archived - Virgin Media Community VM don’t give two hoots. t’s either On or Off…

Hmm … WTF is the point in having port forwarding if the minimalist firewall configuration options are going to ignore them anyway ::slight_smile:

No idea, but then again, tha’ts VM for you, or rather me!

OMG…
Mark, have a read of this, it’s a thread I started on VM’s Website…

Major Facepalm moment with the 2 replies to me at the end…

So rather than allow firewall rules to be applied, their answer is to TURN OFF the firewall … BRILLIANT ::slight_smile:

And one of them say to use one of the pre-defined rules. I tried it and guess what… BLOCKED

[EDIT #1]
NOW can you see why I’m sometimes asking about a firewall program…

[EDIT #2]
Replaced the link with a better one.

I know this is not much help to you but I have the same so called Superhub as you and so long as you use it within it’s predefined settings it works fine but if you try to change even basic configuration settings it’s dysfunctional, I tried to change the DNS server settings (something you can do with almost any router) but with the Superhub it’s not possible, In many cases you won’t be able to change the IP address without a convoluted workaround.

I think they’ve dumbed this down so much to prevent their support team being inundated with phone calls from half wits screwing their internet up trying to get Facebook working.and If you think about it can you think of one reason why a company like Virgin Media would want to make it easy for their customers to download torrents,

I can think of a few reasons why they wouldn’t

Then why do they even bother putting the settings there if they mean nothing?
It’s beyond belief!
Whats Sky like? We may be moving sometime next year and it is going to more than likely be an area where Virgin can’t provide us with a ‘service’ (or lack of).

Then why do they even bother putting the settings there if they mean nothing?

I have no idea, but if you have your own wireless router you can change the Superhub over to modem mode effectively using the Superhub as a modem only and then configure your router to what you want

Do you have a wireless router ?

No, but I will be getting one, which one would you recommend?

Sorry but I have no idea what to recommend I don’t know much about these things or if switching your Superhub over to Modem Mode and using a wireless router is the best solution I just suggested it as a possible solution, it would be better if someone a bit smarter than me advised you

S’OK, I’ll have a look around and try and ask my wife’s cousins son lol (I know someone who knows someone who knows) ???

As he also recommended doing the same.

OMG… You have GOT TO read this…
