I CAN’T use Imageshack at the moment … whenever I go there I get some damn opoup about them giving away some phones … and as I’m on a netbook, the popup is bigger thatn my screen, and it won’t let me scroll to the close button that’s probably at the top.

Fekin idiot webmasters never consider people with small screens

Usually hittin Esc clears those … but it aint workin on Imageshack, and I’m too busy to try figure it out ATM

I’m trying to insert the picture for the one above but Imageshack is only giving me one choice of image size… HUGE!

That guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

The router just forwards the port (or not) … it doesn’t modify its behaviour whether there’s an app listening on that port or not

In fact that can be used to blackhole ports … forward them to a non existent IP

Is this what you’re trying to do

Actually he’s half right … if you were ALSO running a software firewall on the PC (as in the Winblows one) the PC’s firewall would reject incomming connections.

He’s assuming the whole world uses Winblows.

[EDIT]

Though quite what that’s got to do with the router saying it will forward a port … but the routers firewall then blocking that port, I don’t know.

Kinda make the option for port forwarding defunct

off to bed now guys now remember the first rule of Port Forwarding

if it open ready for you to have it open when it’s open ready and you’re not having it open then it’s not going to be open but it is open ready

what’s so fu"""ng hard about that to understand… ::slight_smile: sheesh

No wonder I’ve been getting it wrong all these years.

That I did not know :o

Yes lol!

OMG guys… I’m in stitches here… ;D :o

Having given your problem some thought, I don’t understand why you’re having this issue because I have the same Superhub as you and yet I can download torrents no problem and I haven’t made any port forwarding changes additionally the following quote you made on the original post suggests to me it’s not a router problem

I have installed Transmission on a laptop with Win7 installed and it works fine so I don't know what is wrong with the one on my PC with Ubuntu 12.04LTS on...

so it might be an idea to undo any changes you made to the Superhub then uninstall Transmission completely

sudo apt-get remove --purge transmission

then install again

sudo apt-get install transmission

then check to see if it works and if that doesn’t work we can check your hub & Transmission settings against mine to see if we can find the problem that way if you want ?

He CAN download torrents … it’s just that if he turns the superhub’s security to “High” it blocks ALL incoming connections (which you’d expect), but then when you set port forwarding to let stuff through on a single specified port … the damn thing totally ignores the port forward rule.

So

With security OFF (or low ?) there would be no real need (in a home environment) for port forwarding.

With Security HIGH, port forwarding is ignored

They’ve trimmed the firewall configuration so you cant apply your own rules (just 3 settings), so why have a port forwarding section in the router at all.

Oh sorry i obviously lost track of this thread.

This is not the only area area the Superhub is found wanting, it makes you wonder if it’s all not by design

I have just tried Transmission and the firewall on the Window$ Lappy.
Transmission is able to continue downloading even when the firewall is set to high and WITHOUT a port forwarding rule set?
:o

was that with UPnP set it transmission ?
