I’ve been looking for a light desktop calendar and couldn’t find anything suitable in the repos but came across Rainlender which I downloaded from here http://www.rainlendar.net/cms/index.php it downloads as a .tar so I unpacked and inside is an executable script which works fine, but my question is how can I make that script run at startup so it shows on my desktop when I log in
Before we create a .desktop file in ~/.config/autostart … can I ask why you didn’t download/install the 32bit .deb (for Ubuntu) from that site instead of the .tar.bz2 ?

I didn’t see the .deb version but I see it now sorry about that :-[
I tried pasting that into another Russian to English online translator (Can’t remember which one) and it translated as “Always Please” so I just assumed you needed to brush up on your Russian a little
