Mint 18.3 cinnamon 64bit - I upgraded from version 18.2 and when I booted this morning “Sticky Notes” failed to start.
I was asked to check if I had the latest version which I do only updated this month. Applets : Sticky Notes : Cinnamon Spices
No one had reported the same problem with mint18.3 with this taskbar app.
I was also told to check the system log but I can not find it.
Any help would be appreciated.
You may be better off asking on the Mint forum Tramlink … I know sod all about these Cinnamon “spices” applets and how they work.
Did not find out any info on Mint No one had reported the same problem with mint18.3 with this taskbar app (not a desktop Cinnamon app).
I am using another app (KNotes) but have to remember to start it each morning.
I put it in the list of programs that start on boot but I still have to open it and select open all notes.
Instead of knotes (which I gather relies on the ‘restore session’ function of KDE) in Cinnamon, maybe instead try indicator-stickynotes.
You can get it for Mint 18 (which is based on Ubuntu 16.04) by direct downloading this file:-
https://launchpad.net/~umang/+archive/ubuntu/indicator-stickynotes/+files/indicator-stickynotes_1.0.0-0~ppa1_all.deb
and double clicking it to install.
Info on it can be found here
but probably not best to install it with their method as I’m not sure how adding Ubuntu PPA’s works in Mint
To UNINSTALL:-
sudo apt-get remove --purge indicator-stickynotes
Thanks I will give it a try.
Let me know how you get on.
It works for me in Peppermint 9, so I’d assume it’ll work in Mint … but it is an assumption
Wondering why OP hasn’t updated/upgrade to Mint Cinnamon 19.1 Tessa ? Knotes works no problem
Knotes works on his Mint 18 … but the notes aren’t auto opened on login, he has to manually open them.
Oops… :-[
Anyway just added knotes to start up in Mint 19.1 and it worked,on start up there was knotes open on desktop hope this helps. :-\
indicator-stickynotes working OK so will mark it resolved.
Only recently upgraded so will stick where I am for now.
Thanks to all.
