OK …
Go to:-
menu>System Tools>Update Manager
When it starts, go to:-
Edit>Preferences
Click the “Ignore Packages” tab
Click the “Add” button
Enter:-
Package name: supertuxkart
Click the “OK” button.
Click the “Add” button again.
Enter:-
Package name: supertuxkart-data
Click the “OK” button.
Click the “Apply” button.
After it updates again … supertuxkark and supertuxkart-data should no longer be in the list.
No worries … learned sommat myself there 
Not that it will get me to use mintupdate … I just don’t like it, it’s too slow and I hate the way it decides not to update things like the kernel … I also prefer to not get reminded/bugged about available updates and update when I choose.
(it’s one of the first things I swap out when I install Peppermint)
Oddly, if you were using the default Ubuntu update manager, you’d probably be on a more recent kernel (IIRC mintupdate holds back kernel updates by default) … so your wireless might not have broken.
