System Tray Icon Size (Solved)

On panel preferences/appearance can increase systray icon size to level 20.

Is it possible to make the Icons larger than this…?.

Jocklad

I don’t get where you are ?

If you right-click the bottom panel, and select “Panel Settings”, and the “Geometry” tab

you can adjust say

Height: 44
Icon Size: 44

Then on the “Appearance” tab, you can adjust

Font
Size: 20 ← you’ll have to tick this first to activate it

Thanks Mark.

You have thrown new light on this for me.

Will have another go.

Jocklad

You can also adjust the font size on the desktop and main menu’s by going to

menu > Preferences > Customise Look and Feel > Widget (tab)

And changing the font to say

Default Font: Ubuntu 16

and click the “Apply” button…

Desktop (and file manager) icon size can be adjusted in the file manager.

In the file manager, go to

Edit > Preferences > Display

and adjust the icon sizes there.

Thanks Mark.

The screen set-up is now much better for him.

The only one I am now having trouble making bigger is the Bookmarks bar on chromium.

Thanks for your help and patience.

If I were you I’d switch him to Firefox, some things just can’t be adjusted in Chrome/Chromium but Firefox is uber customisable

Install firefox, then install this extension:

then in firefox go to

tools > Theme Font Size Changer

and set the “Size” to something like 20

That will change all Firefox system font sizes (toolbars, tabs, bookmarks, right-click context menus, everything)

Then if you want, change web page font sizes

Edit > Preferences > Contents (tab)

and change the font size there.

or you could just zoom the page with Ctrl+ and shrink with Ctrl- or use the mouse scroll wheel whilst holding Ctrl.

Leave Chromium installed for Ice SSB’s (font size shouldn’t be an issue in those as they don’t have toolbars)

Thanks again Mark.

Will try him on Firefox tomorrow.

The ctrl/+/- is a problem as he only has the use of one hand for the keyboard/mouse.

Jocklad

No problem … just change the font size in preferences too then

If he’s happy with Firefox and you’d like to change “Chromium” in the top level menu to “Firefox”, let me know and I’ll tell you how.

I’ll also tell you how to make Firefox the default browser.

Thanks Mark.

Jocklad

Two other Firefox extensions that may (or may not) come in handy

Default FullZoom Level:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level/
(looks like it would make single handed zooming easy)

NoSquint:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nosquint/

Thanks Mark.

Will install Firefox tomorrow with your instructions and let you know how it goes.

Hi Mark.

Spoke to him this morning and he has decided to leave peppermint 5 on chromium.

He seems to be managing with the screen modifications already made on chromium.

Many thanks for all your help.

Will mark this as solved.
