Hi Mark,
as suggested new thread for tlp. I would be obliged if you could guide me through this installation as I have only ever done installs through the software centre.
Many thanks,
Degsy
Actually Mark, managed to follow the instructions on the link you gave me and it seems to be working ok, will come back to you if I find any problems. Any comments etc that you think might be helpful will, of course, be gratefully received.
Cheers,
Degsy
Yup nothing hard about installing TLP in peppermint 4 … just a few commands
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:linrunner/tlp
then
sudo apt-get update
then
sudo apt-get install tlp tlp-rdw smartmontools ethtool
then start it wth:
sudo tlp start
and check it’s running with:
sudo tlp-stat
As long as (after a reboot) that last command returns
TLP power save = enabled
as part of the output, you’re good to go … your CPU should automagically get throttled back when not under load.

Yes, have rebooted and all working well. I am amazed at the difference in battery life since going to peppermint 4 from XP, I could hardly get a boot up using battery power under XP but now it lasts whilst using Pep 4. Really pleased with this and haven’t booted XP since it was installed.

Pleased to hear it
