Hey guys my skype won’t connect. Why not? I am on a netbook on mint 3
And laptop peppermint3. It won’t connect on any of them.I really wanted to talk a friend tonight- please can anyone help!!!

Linux Mint 3!!! :o

It has been obsolete since October 2008. A newer version would be better.

What is your Skype version?
This thread might answer your question.

It is 4.2 can u help me please??? Do I need to get an older version? How do I do that? I am not good at programming etc- I need to talk to my friend- please help! I will be very very grateful

Not familiar with PeppermintOS 3 but I think it is based on Ubuntu 12.04
So go to Download Skype for mobile & desktop | Skype and select the Ubuntu 12.04 version under the dropdown box.
It should download skype-ubuntu-precise_4.3.0.37-1_1386.deb save the file somewhere where you can easily locate it.
Once downloaded, double click it (this should start gdebi installer) and begin the installation.
Fingers crossed it will work after installation.
[EDIT]
You may need to install gdebi first if not already installed.

sudo apt-get install gdebi

Thanks SeZo will try that

How do I find out what my distro is SeZo for the link?

When you are on that download page go to Choose your distribution, click the down arrow and select (click) Ubuntu 12.04 (Multiarch)
[EDIT]
Assuming you will be doing this in PeppermintOS 3

According to here:
http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/pool/partner/s/skype/
Ubuntu already has 4.3.0.37 in the repos … so have you tried just running:

sudo apt-get update

then

sudo apt-get install skype

Thanks guys, I will do all that tomorrow, it’s late now. I will let you know how it goes…
