I don’t know how in hell it’s happened but my SD card reader doesn’t seem to work right with my laptop.
As I plug it in, the red light comes on for power, but the green light which indicates when a memory has been put in, comes on when there’s no card in it. Yet if I plug it into my PS3 it doesn’t do it? I don’t understand what’s happening and if at all possible, please help. >.<
EDIT: Ok now it’s not doing it. Seems to be some issue with the USB cable. :S I changed it from the PS3 cable to my digital camera cable.
Have you tried it in different USB ports ?
is it a USB card reader ?
Have you tried having the card/reader inserted when you turn the PC on?
if you pug it in whilst the PC is booted, then just after plugging it in, run
dmesg | tail -n 20
are there any clues ?

Read my edit. Seems to be the USB cable.
Just for safety’s sake…
