update all and download equivlent of flash player [Thank you now installed]

how do i update all applications and i need flash player

I take it you mean in Ubuntu ? … I can’t remember what everyone is using

See here:
http://linuxforums.org.uk/frequently-asked-questions/install-flashplayer-java-and-mp3-support-in-ubuntu/

and updates… just run the Update Manager.

Sorry I have miss led you it is not a net book I tried that anyway but it won’t work, It should have put it in general help could somebody move it please SORRY

Those instructions aren’t netbook specific, and should work on ALL versions of Ubuntu.

Which part are you having difficulty with ?

it looks like I have to go to other tab all boxes are ticked except for source code all boxes are ticked in there and if i type in the search box it takes me to another search box if i don’t i just get the error failed to fetch (111 it won’t let me cut and paste

If you’ve enabled the correct repositories, CLOSE synaptic, open a terminal and enter:

sudo apt-get update

then

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

then

sudo apt-get install libdvdread4

then

sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh

And if they don’t work, post the output from the commands.

Where won’t it let you cut and paste ?

I cut and Pasted the 1st command you quoted and got the following

EXACTLY… If you ARE running 11.04, I’m presuming it was an UPGRADE from 10.10, and for some reason the sources.list DIDN’T get upgraded.

Send me the output from:

cat /etc/*-release

and

uname -a

and if you ARE running 11.04, I’ll post what your sources.list SHOULD read, and instructions on how to change it.

Thank you I’am very pleased with it
