Upgrading to Peppermint 5

Sorry I may hav e been mixing this topic up with another on the Peppermint forum in my head.

So if you use this command to enter suspend:

sudo pm-suspend --quirk-vbestate-restore

that solves ALL your problems ?

So all we really need is that quirk running every time you suspend ?

No.
It just allows me to log out and back in and that clears the display problem.
What I did work out today though is that coming from a suspend I have the display issues as has been said but when trying to log out and back in, I said it went to a black screen but this as it turns out is not actually true. Today instead of reisub I left it for a while and the monitor message came up ‘No input from PC’. So it would appear it’s shutting down the display.
Would it help if I took a video and posted it?
Also, unless it’s an ocd thing for you (it can be for me in my job) or it may help others, I wouldn’t worry too much as I have that other pc on the way.

I do like to get to the root of a problem, so yeah probably an OCD thing.

That said, I’m going to resist this one (unless you wanna keep going ?) … it’s one of those issues where it might take forever to diagnose, or not even be possible to fix.

We can always come back to it if you decide it’s important.

I’ll post a video so you can see it in action but I’ll be playing with the new PC for the rest of the week, so depending on how that goes I might be after some help on a different machine.
Not the place here I know but…
Just install along side windows and grub should sort itself out right?
