Your location code is correct isn’t it? By the looks of things it’s not able to connect to the weather server to download the data needed.
Your transmission problem sounds like a graphic card issue.

Location code is fine.
Do what’s in this posting:
http://linuxforums.org.uk/index.php?topic=9747.msg73958#msg73958
and try again.
You missed out one of the commands
Just re-followed your instructions and it did the same.
But nothing else is having the same type of problem.
Run this:
sudo killall conky
then
sudo rm -vf /tmp/.conkyForecast-UKXX0040.cache
then
conky
Now what’s the output … and is it displaying properly ?
Is it possible that this problem has started since you installed Tor?
If it has then it might be that Tor is interfering (doing its job) with your connections to the weather and clock servers?
Some of those services are limited geographically to local (GB) connections.
When your request hits an exit relay (and proceeds out into the Internet again) it could be geographically anywhere.
Just sayin…
I’ve been testing exactly the same location code, and using his configs … and it works on mine.
conkyForecast leaves a cache file in /tmp … I think that may be corrupted, which is why I’ve just given instructions to delete it … as long as conky is killed (as root) before you delete it, it gets recreated the next time you start conky
[EDIT]
@SeZo
Appologies … I hadn’t read your reply thoroughly enough :-[
You may be right about the TOR exit server though … this is all XML so I suppose it could be returning some character conkyForcast doesn’t understand.
But this:
ERROR: Location UKXX0040 is not in cache. ERROR: Failed to load the location cache
is leading me to think it’s a cache file error. … I purposely corrupted the file, and I got the same symptoms.
Same error

Nope, didn’t install it, just ‘tried’ it running the script that was available in the download
what is the output from:

Hmm … no cache file, I had that problem, and I have no idea how it solved itself.
The cache is SUPPOSED to be recreated when you restart conky … but the first few times it didn’t.
run:
killall conky
then:
sudo killall conky
then
conky
then close the terminal … conky should close, then reopen
then
sudo killalll conky
then
conky
Meanwhile keep checking /tmp for a file called .conkyForecast-UKXX0040.cache by running:
ls -a /tmp
eventually one will appear, but I could make no sense out of when it appeared.
if it doesn’t appear … you’ll have to leave this with me, I’m no longer at the PC tha has it installed.
It would also me nice to know what you meant by running a tor script to “try it” … as SeZo could well be correct, specially in light of Transmission also starting to play up at the same time.
This site Tor Project | Download
the ‘Script’ is in ‘/tor-browser-en-US/Data/Tor/start-tor-browser’
If you’re not going to bother with tor … did you uninstall all the tor packages you installed from the command line in your tor thread ?
If you’re referring to this post http://linuxforums.org.uk/index.php?topic=10086.0#lastPost then no, I didn’t do it.
Just in case run:
sudo apt-get remove --purge tor vidalia polipo mixmaster privoxy anon-proxy
have you managed to get a .conkyForecast-UKXX0040.cache file to appear in /tmp yet:
ls -a /tmp
?
It’s still not working properly
When I enter
sudo killall conky
it says No process found
Don’t worry about that.
