Over riding an XP password?

Mellisa, can you stop getting ahead of me … if there are things that don’t come up as expected STOP and ask.

I now have no way of knowing if this burn went correctly (or if you chose to verify the burn)… so when that’s, done, bin that disk

insert a new blank CD

Fire up Imgburn (from the start menu), and tell e if this is what you see:

I cannot see anything like an aerial. I have just done the burn speed

SLOW DOWN … was there a tick in the box marked “Verify” ?

Sorry, was a bit confused- put the disk in and it came up by itself- never installed anything before. All new to me, yes put that disk aside - will have to wipe it ( it’s RW) for something else. Yes, i saw that in the pics

OK select Write image file to disk

do you now see this:

I have just got the image burn page up and disk in, not done anything else as yet. First time after the file peppermint was loaded I put the disc in and was looking at the instructions and it started to burn without me doing anything. So now, I’m ready to start again.

I do.

OK, next to where it says

Source:

tick the little folder with magnifying glass

do you see this:

Yes.

In that window … navigate to wherever you saved the Peppermint-3-20120722-i386.iso file … click it and select “Open”

do you now see this again:

Obviously the

yes to all.

OK, make sure there’s a tick in the box marked “Verify”

And change the “Write Speed” to X4

Then click the picture bottom left to start the burn.

Nicotine break … back in 5

It’s doing it Mark. Getting excited here about installing Peppermint! You should see me with one netbook on a little table and the laptop on my knee and two mouses LOL.

Damn, it says there is not enough space on the disc to burn the image. The disc is 700 MB 80 min RW. 4x 10 speed.

it’s not a blank disk then

You know the first disk you burned … did the CD drive tray open and close again during the burn ?

It did yes. i will try another blank.

There’s no need

As long as the first one cycled the tray and STILL said it was a good burn (no errors) you’re OK to use that one.

[EDIT]

The cycling of the tray is when it starts to verify the burn went OK by checking the data on the disk is the same as the ISO image.

So if it cycled the tray and still said “Finished” without saying verification failed … then the burn was good.

It wasn’t on x4 so i am doing another one. The discs are cheap and RW so no probs Mark- can get the PC man to wipe them clean sometime. Fingers crossed this one will work- it said the disc was empty.
