Slow download

Sorry Mark wasn’t thinking straight, you’re right about the heat

Sorry Emegra, but I’m going to have to call it a night … I need to install PM4 64bit on another PC so I can test some updates before releasing them.

Can we pick this up tomorrow ?

I’ll go through that output tomorrow.

No problem whenever you’re ready I’ve had enough anyway

sorry I took up so much of your time :-[

Not a problem … I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t want to be … catch you tomorrow then

[EDIT]

This is for my own reference -

try Wicd … and enable its log for clues.

try disabling IPv6

in light of the DNS issue … try a static IP

try WEP or no security temporarily

try a KNOWN GOOD adapter from another PC … there’s a chance BOTH adapters are screwy.

Because dmesg suggests the adapted is having problems authenticating (so possibly BOTH of them are rubbish) … I’d like to try -

a) a known working adapter from one of the other systems (if possible)

b) giving wicd a shot instead of networkmanager

c) switching to WEP

Which would you like to try first ?

Which would you like to try first ?

Well from my way of thinking probably changing to a known good network card would give us good info because I could swap with the PC that works best is that ok ?

That’s fine … and makes a lot of sense … it will rule in/out the adapter

OK I swapped the network cards between Linux3 (Which had a good connection) and Linux4 (Which has the bad connection) and there seems to be no difference to Linux3 it still returns a good connection speed (18.17mbps Download & 2.99mbps Upload) only the connection is weaker down to 49% from around 68%

at the moment Linux4 has connected to the network but wont connect to the Internet, it’s showing connected at 43% but it wont open any webpages, I’ve tried rebooting but no luck

First of all … in networkmanager, set

IPv6 “Method” = “Ignore”

Now send the output from:

ping -c 5 173.194.41.99

5 packets transmitted 0 recieved

All 5 attempts end with destination host unreachable

Can you ping your routers IP

ping -c 5 <IP.of.your.router>

No I get exactly the same results

if it means anything I installed another OS on another drive on that PC and wont connect to the Internet either

back in 5 minutes going outside to cool down a bit and have a vape, it’s like a fu@@@ng sauna in here

it's like a fu@@@ng sauna in here

Tell me about it :o

What’s the output from:

sudo lshw -C network

and

iwconfig

and

iwlist scanning

and

rfkill list

I’m a bit baffled by this

 logical name: wlan3

Why is it being named 3 not 0

???

Can you post the contents of:

gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
Why is it being named 3 not 0
I noticed that as well, I don't know it's only showing 1 network connection in the network manager

Can you post the contents of:

gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules

and the output from

lspci -vnn | grep -i net
